PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX III: Virtualization and Mobility

Description

Learn to integrate PowerHA SystemMirror V6.1 Standard Edition in a highly available virtualized environment.in which the PowerHA nodes are clients to a virtual I/O server.

This course is designed to teach IBM PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX Version 6.1 (formerly known as HACMP) professionals the techniques used to implement a highly available virtualized environment.

Objectives

•    Design and implement a virtualized environment for a PowerHA SystemMirror cluster that includes the failure and recovery of the virtualized components outside of the control of PowerHA SystemMirror
•    Implement the use of DLPAR by PowerHA SystemMirror
•    Implement PowerHA SystemMirror in an environment that uses Live Partition Mobility
•    Implement PowerHA SystemMirror in an environment that uses Application Partition Mobility (WPARs)

Participants

This advanced course is for PowerHA SystemMirror system administrators and support personnel who are responsible for the implementation and maintenance of PowerHA SystemMirror clusters in a virtualized environment on IBM Power Systems running AIX.

Prerequisite(s)

Students must have experience planning, implementing, and administering a PowerHA SystemMirror or HACMP cluster and basic knowledge of how to create a LPAR and VIO server. This prerequisite may be met by attending:
•    PowerHA for AIX I: Implementation, Configuration and Administration (AN41)
•    Power Systems for AIX - Virtualization I: Implementing Virtualization (AN30)
Students should also have basic knowledge of the following topics: TCP/IP communications concepts, and LVM concepts and configuration. This prerequisite may be met by attending:
•    TCPIP for AIX Administrators (AN21)
•    Power Systems for AIX II: AIX Implementation and Administration (AN12)

•    Unit 4: Implementing WPARs with SystemMirror
•    Unit 5: Implementing Live Partition Mobility with SystemMirror
•    Exercise 4: Implementing WPARs with SystemMirror
•    Exercise 5: Implementing Live Partition Mobility with SystemMirror
