Fast Track to Statistical Analysis Using IBM SPSS Statistics - ILO

IBM SPSS Education is now pleased to offer our courses in an exciting new learning format, Instructor-led Online (ILO). Students are offered a similar experience to live classroom training, with the convenience of having it delivered directly to their desktop.

IBM SPSS Statistics provides many facilities for managing, modifying and analyzing data. This course initially introduces the student to the steps of data analysis and how to use basic elements of IBM SPSS Statistics to perform those steps and answer basic questions about your data. The focus then shifts to an introduction to the statistical components of IBM SPSS Statistics. This includes a range of statistical techniques for investigating and testing underlying relationships. You will gain an understanding of when and why to use these various techniques as well as how to apply them with confidence, and interpret their output, and graphically display the results using SPSS.

•    Data distributions for scale variables
•    Making inferences about populations from samples
•    Using the chi-square statistic to assess the statistical significance of relationships between categorical variables
•    The independent- samples t test
•    The paired-samples t test
•    Bivariate plots and correlations for scale variables
•    Appendix A: Nonparametric tests

Participants

This basic course is for anyone who has worked with IBM SPSS Statistics and wants to become better versed in the basic statistical capabilities of IBM SPSS Statistics Base. This course targets those with limited or no statistical background. The course is also an appropriate refresher for those whose main statistical experience was gained many years ago.

Prerequisite(s)

You should have:
•    General computer literacy.
•    Completion of the "Fast Track/Introduction to IBM SPSS Statistics" and/or "Fast Track to Data Management and Manipulation with IBM SPSS Statistics" courses or experience with IBM SPSS Statistics (Version 15 or later) including familiarity with opening, defining, and saving data files and manipulating and saving output.
